James Sandifier's story
On 25th January James Sandifier is organising a 10k Run in Bushy Park as a tribute to his late Dad and in support for his brothers for PKD Charity.
Here, James tells us what prompted him to take on this challenge:
“I lost my father to PKD too young. Two of my brothers have inherited the condition and the eldest has recently been through major surgery related to the disease. And the other brother’s function is getting worse faster than we thought it would.
I did not inherit the condition. I'm a father in my late 30s and do not take great care of myself. I'm doing this run as a tribute to my Dad and brothers and to improve my own health so I can be fighting fit for my son and brothers.
I'm doing a 10k run in Bushy Park a favourite of our Dads and Grandad. I've started my training doing 1.2k runs and building to the 10k on Saturday 25th January.
It's such an unfair disease and only certain children will get it and doing this for myself and my family is the least I can do.
Through love and generosity of my friends on Facebook we have raised £523 in just 4 days for PKD! Over 50% of my target.
Thank you to everyone and wish me luck with the training and then the main event!”
Thank you so much to James for organising this very special challenge as a tribute to his Dad and in support of his brothers.
